TGIF!!

It's finally Friday! I hope everyone has a fun, relaxing weekend planned! I plan on sewing all weekend! How's that for fun!? I'm feeling inspired to make some new, fun things. I've made a couple of new things this week for my Etsy shop! These are cute, inexpensive little stocking stuffers or quick gifts. First, I made some little pocket tissue holders, which have already come in handy for me, since we've got runny noses going on around this house already!

Next is a fun wrist strap for point and shoot cameras or cell phones. I've seen tons of cool neck straps for DLSRs, but not everyone has one of those kinds of cameras. I actually made of few of these last Spring, but never got around to putting them in my shop.

I've got just few more pictures from Quilt Market to share. And, according to the Random.org number generator, the winner of my little Fairies giveaway is number 2 - pink lemonade bags!!! Email me with your name and address!
Thanks everybody for leaving your nice comments! I've got another fun Quilt Market giveaway today too, so be sure to leave a comment!

Here is me and Lila Tueller. She is gorgeous and as sweet as can be!! She has a new line of fabric coming out in a few months call Soiree. It's beautiful, fun and bright! I ordered a bunch of prints from this line, so be sure to check back! Or better yet- sign up for my Hip Fabric mailing list to receive news on new products and promotions!

Head Spinning -Day 2

First, I need to start off with a little Halloween fun! My kids are completely into the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies. Can't you tell?

We had a great night - no rain and it was actually "warm" for this time of year. The kids scored on the candy and had tons of fun. Needless to say, they crashed that night!

Now back to more Market action! Saturday morning we started off at the Michael Miller section to lend support and props to our friends. Patty Young and Paula Prass were debuting their new lines. Their booths were gorgeous, as were they!

I was so happy and excited for them! And while Myrinda stayed and talked, ahem, Jonah and I wandered. There was too much to see to be in one place for too long. Our next stop was the J. Caroline booth. Total eye-candy! In pretty tones of orange, it was like a creamsicle dream!

Need I say more? Amy Butler and me in her booth

My new doll friend Sheree pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about Amy. Since I started sewing as a true passion, she has been a true inspiration.

I didn't get to meet Tina Givens at Spring Market, but was lucky enough to meet her this time around. Tina was so fun to talk to. She is so passionate and creative and warm.

The Girls-Myrinda, Sheree, Jonah and me

The person taking the pic didn't know how to use the camera, so we're a little blurry. We were standing in front of the new Freespirit Lifestyle products booth. They are starting a new line of lifestyle products, which is very exciting. One of the most coveted freebies of the whole show were the Sugar Snap bracelets. We stalked that booth every morning to snatch one, but were mostly unsuccessful - until the last day!!

The rest of the day was a wonder-filled adventure full of fabric, color, people, quilts, patterns and pure joy!

To cap off the first real Market day, I have a little Fairie giveaway. Here is a fun charm pack of Michael Miller's new Fairy Frost line. And an 8"x8" stack of Elinor Peace Bailey's new line, "Dance with Fairies" for P&B Textiles. Just leave a comment!

My Head Is Spinning-Day 1

It was a whirlwind weekend in Houston at the Fall International Quilt Market. There was so much anticipation leading up to it and now it's all over in a blink. My head is just spinning at all the new fabrics, patterns and products I saw. Not to mention all the fabulous people I met and saw again. While it was a little hard on the husband and kids, it sure was a needed little break for me.
I arrived early Friday afternoon, after a very early and long flight. I didn't know how I was going to make it through the rest of the day. I met my good pals Jonah and Myrinda at the airport and off we went. First stop: Schoolhouse Series. We got there right in time to listen to Kathy Miller, Patty Young and Paula Prass speak about their new lines and all that is new with Michael Miller Fabrics.
Then we were off to the Fabric 2.0 Meet and Greet hosted by Caroline DeVoy of J. Caroline Creative, Kathy Miller, Lissa Alexander of Moda Fabrics and Christina Batch-Lee of Etsy. It was a fun night of schmoozing, laughing and eating.

After the party, we were off to the Sample Spree. Can I just say, "Pure craziness!!" We had gotten there a little late, so I guess things had quieted down a bit, but you couldn't tell. I can only imagine what it was like when the doors opened! There were ladies with bags full of loot! Some even had to drag them because they had so much stuff! By this time, I was so pooped, I didn't even buy anything. That's ok. I made up for it in the next three days.

That's it for now. I'll be back to tell the tales of the rest of the weekend. And stay tuned for some fun little bloggy Quilt Market giveaways!

Busy Times

We're only a week into October and it's already been non-stop. First, I was busy working on a new set to list on Ebay with my design group ODOD, for a little mini-launch that's all about my favorite - polka dots! I was half-way through the outfit, when I got lucky enough to get hooked up with the wonderfully warm and fun Paula Prass, through Patty of Modkid. Paula has a new fabric line debuting at International Quilt Market in Houston at the end of this month called Flights of Fancy for Michael Miller Fabrics. Paula was in need of some sample sewers for the show asap! Paula contacted me and let me know what she was looking for and no sooner had I received a fun box full of her beautiful new fabrics, I was off sewing!
Turns out, she needed the sample sets by the 13th!! I set off on a feverish pace through the weekend and sent off a box yesterday! Here's a little sneak of what was in the box.
I still have more samples to make for Paula, but will be taking them along with me to Quilt Market in a few weeks. A few weeks?? Ack! I can't believe it's coming up so quickly! I have so much more I need to get done before then.
Off to finish my polka dot set!

I don't get it

So, I don't get it. Where does time go? Tomorrow's September already. My two babes start school on Tuesday. I can't believe it! Yes, I know, my last post promised a post a week. Not! Well, like I said, blogging is like homework.
I've got some new things in my Etsy shop, AND a new Etsy shop full of fabric!! YUM!

Baaaad Blogger

I'm such a bad blogger. I have no excuses. Sometimes blogging is like homework for me. It puts me right back in high school sitting down and trying to write a book report or paper. I'm going to try and do better and post something at least once a week!

Summer is in full swing here. We are busy with swim lessons and golf lessons. Next week my little one has a summer class with his preschool teacher on turtles. Should be a fun time for him!
It's beautiful today and I think the kids and I will head over to the water fountains and play this afternoon, even though I should really be sewing something.

Fun, New Accessories

Like so many other crafters and sewers, I can't bear to throw fabric away. I've accumulated so many scraps - you know, too small to make much with, but too big to throw away. I thought it would be fun to be a little crafty and make up some fun, little accesories to put in my Etsy shop.
I've got LOTS of scraps, so there will be more to come!

My Work is Done!

After a long, exhausting photo shoot, it's time to play!
Before

After

It was time to let off some steam and go play! No, I don't normally make my kids wear their helmets to go down a slide LOL! They were riding their scooters right before that. We had just finished a little photo shoot for my newest set.

I was invited to be a guest designer with the girls of
Boutique POP! for their strawberry launch! I had so
much fun designing sets that were all about
strawberries!! I also collaborated with my pal,
Heather, of little*e*designs, on this sweet little skirt and tee set.

Check out all the fun, strawberry goodness from these other great designers!
